A one-family home built in the 1930s – which had been used by two families during the era of East-Germany – was supposed to be converted and developed. The location at the edge of the forest advocated an architectural character close to nature: wooden cubes which appear inadvertently attached, roof overhangs, natural shades and larch wood paneling award a forest-house character to the building and lets it lodge under pines as a matter of course.

The open floor plan of the interior is furnished with a colorful, modern country house interior design. Strong colors and built-in components made of birch wood plywood panels determine the image.
On the ground level almost all non-bearing walls have been removed to create a flowing living space – at the center of which stands an open kitchen with a dining table of 3 meters in length. On the upper level, part of the ceiling to the attic was opened. This creates a two-story dwelling area through which the extended roof is reached. The roof gable facing the forest is fully glazed so that the bedroom up here offers the impression of a bird’s nest.
